Visit the outskirts of Oslo

Take a day trip outside Oslo with us on a private car, to see towns that made history in Norway. Choose your destination for a day road trip between two towns:

  1. Drøbak, visit the Oscarsborg fortress and see the military ground where Norwegian forces challenged the first attempt at German occupation during WWII.
  2. Or Modum where you can visit the old cobalt mines at blåfarveverket, enjoy traditional Norwegian cuisine and see the great works of Norwegian fairy tale painter Th. Kittelsen.

Tours are only available from May to September.

Choose from these two destinations for your day trip.

    • Oscarsborg Fortress situated on the Oslofjord has had the important function of defending the seaward approach to the capital. With its strategic location on an island, Oscarsborg Fortress is a very popular tourist destination, with its own marina and great biological diversity. First, we drive from Oslo to Drøbak where we will take the ferry across to the fortress, only accessible by boat.
    • Cobalt mines, just a one-hour drive from Oslo, are one of Europe´s most peculiar and best-arranged visiting mines. We will drive from Oslo to the town of Modum driving through rich landscapes with picturesque surroundings. In addition, you will have the opportunity to visit the museum for Norwegian fairytale illustrator Th. Kittelsen and a traditional coffee shop with tempting Norwegian classic cakes.

What to bring

Comfortable walking shoes, clothes according to the weather. In Norway climate varies and temperatures can be low. It is important to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
